Professor Constance H Katelaris, MB BS PhD FRACP
Professor Connie Katelaris is a part of the School of Medicine at the University of Western Sydney and Head of Unit at Campbelltown Hospital, Sydney. She has a longstanding research interest in clinical applications of aerobiology having completed her PhD thesis on respiratory allergy and aeroallergen exposure in regional NSW, Australia. She has investigated patterns of aeroallergen reactivity in atopic individuals, correlating this with environmental exposure. She produced a pollen calendar for the year 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and has constructed a contemporary pollen calendar for the Sydney region. Prof Katelaris has served on the Aerobiology Committee of the American Academy of Asthma Allergy and Immunology (AAAAI) for a number of years. She has been instrumental in establishing an aerobiology interest group within the Asia Pacific region, organising a number of meetings for interested researchers within the region. She chaired a committee to produce an aeroallergen monitoring handbook for use in the Asia Pacific.
